Americans in the United States at Risk Online More Than Ever

Americans are now more at risk online than ever before due to the CRA resolution which was passed by the House of Representatives last March 2017.  The resolution effective allows ISPs to benefit and profit from your browsing history and other data found online.  This means that your online transactions may be at risk due to this new resolution which was officially signed by President Donald Trump last April 2017.

What can ISPs do?

According to the Electronic Fronties Foundation, ISPs can now do at least five things which they cannot do before.

  1. Sell your browsing history to anyone.
  2. Monitor your searches and share them with third parties.
  3. Monitor your traffic by injecting their own malware-filled ads into websites you visit.
  4. Automatically install cookies on your browser.
  5. Pre-install software on phones that will monitor your traffic – even HTTPS.

What can homeowners do?

As part of our continued dedication to both lenders and consumers, we are providing some solution to these recent problem which affects all of us.

  1. Install HTTPS Everywhere.  It is an extension that will make all websites default to HTTPS.  It will alert you if you try to access a site that isn’t HTTPS.  It’s free and you can download and install it from HERE.
  2. Use a VPN.  VPNs will come in handy in order to protect you since VPNs are private and secure.  The best way to get a VPN is true an opera browser.  It does not only provide you with a VPN but also an instant ad blocker.  All you have to do is download Opera browser here and turn on the features. Again, don't forget to install HTTPS Everywhere.
The Trump administration is really favoring more and more companies rather than the public.  We are hoping that this predicament does not happen here in the Philippines.
